Schedule update

Folks, I spent this morning trying to write a little something and to post the latest schedule, including radio inteviews and appearances.  Somehow, when I pushed ‘publish’, it vanished.  Sorry about that.  Now, I’m late for a date with the shower so I can get to my interviews today.  I’m going to post this, then try quickly to post the schedule… I was trying to edit out info no one but me needs, but now I don’t have time for that, I’m afraid!

Jackson Browne tickets

I’ve gotten a lot of emails from people wanting tickets to the sold out Jackson Browne concerts.  There’s a package that includes a pair of front row seats, VIP reception limited to 20 to meet Jackson before the show, post-concert reception, signed copy of my book, signed poster for the concert, limited edition t-shirts.  Here’s the eBay link if anyone is interested… proceeds from this will go to LACE.

LACE Volunteers

In case anyone wants to take a trip up to Barre, here are some of the tasks that need to be done so LACE can open in two short weeks!!! To be done List

From Stockbridge to Boston

Okay, okay… but, that’s really what I’m doing today.  I’m waiting for an interview with The Bangor Daily News, then I’m off to Boston for tonight’s signing.

Stockbridge was great.  Just wish I could stay longer at The Red Lion Inn!  The reading was great - I felt I went on too long, but Charlene, Matt and Maggie assured me it was okay.  About three quarters of the way through the evening, a voice boomed behind me and I turned around to see George Gruel sitting there.  I didn’t recognize him at first without his beard, but he looked great and added a few tales of his own to the evening.

One of the highlights for me was that the owner of Stockbridge Booksellers, John Lippman, used to be an organic farmer… he was part of a seed bank working to preserve seeds from Native American foods… and he asked me to bring LACE brochures and talk about Ariel and LACE.  Again, I thought I might have talked about it a bit too long, but everyone seemed interested and took brochures and asked lots of questions.

And, to top the evening off, the store sold out of books by the end of the evening.

Okay, off to Boston (Cambridge, actually).   I have a TV taping at 4 with CN8 - Backstage with Barry Nolan, then Porter Square Books at 7 p.m.  Then, in the morning, at 8 a.m. I  have to be at the New England  Cable News  channel for an interview there.  And, it’ll be off to Maine and a little time with family (Ben’s parents live in Camden).

Miami with Carl Hiaasen & Dave Barry & Pittsfield

e_Crystal, Carl, Dave Miami 5-121.jpge_Hiaasen & CZ1.jpge_Pittsfield1.jpg

Farewell Florida

I’m at the airport in West Palm Beach and miracle of miracles, there is an internet connection.  So, I thought I would briefly report on the stellar event at Books & Books in Coral Beach.  Appearing with two of the funniest and most personable guys on the planet, Carl Hiaasen and Dave Barry, was not only an honor but an absolute pleasure!  We had a crowd of about 120 (they tell me) and it seemed like we signed as many books.

Before we began, I told Carl how nervous I was and he said, “Oh, don’t worry.  Dave’s a pro.  He’ll take care of everything.”  Then, Mitchell, the owner of Books & Books (the world’s best bookstore, btw) gave us (and the book) this amazing introduction.  We climb up on the tall stools, settle in, then Carl hands me the mic!  What?!?!  I thought Dave was taking care of everything.  You mean I have to speak first?  Well, I was kind of struck dumb and numb.  Thankfully, these are sensitive guys and Carl took the mic and kindly asked me a question to get me started.  After that… well, we just all told the stories from our hearts and it was pretty wonderful.

I wish I could replay it all over and over… there I was with these two best selling authors… two guys whose writing I admired long before they even knew Warren… and, they are not only doing me the honor of speaking alongside me, but even complimenting my work… telling me Warren would be proud.  There is nothing more I could ask.

So, after a few days with Max and Gus, I’ll be in Stockbridge, Cambridge then Maine.  Hope to see you along the way.

Next stop Miami

I just did two early morning radio shows in Florida and am leaving in an hour for Newark and the flight to West Palm Beach.  If anyone’s in the area, Carl Hiaasen and Dave Barry will be joining me at the book event.  Hope to see some of you there.  Here’s the info:
